Why was "The Cow" born?

Flying Cow was created to serve a niche market in the media spectrum. After many months of research, we realized that this niche market was not being served.

Flying Cow is filling a need within the restaurant and coffee shop trade across North America. There was no short condensed reading material at most establishments. Flying Cow fills that void.

How has "The Cow" grown?

Independent Operators have now signed up in Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Idaho, Georgia, Arkansas, California, Nebraska, Montana, Alabama, New Mexico, New York and Mexico. There are numerous inquiries each day from Flying Cow potential operators across North America and around the world. The world's got Flying Cow fever! By year end 2015 Flying Cow anticipates 500 independent operators.

What does it look like?

It is an 11X17 single sheet of white paper. It is a weekly publication that prints with green ink one week and blue ink the next week. It has a Flying Cow masthead with cow theme motifs throughout. It is supported by advertising (non food related). Both 2X3 size business cards and 1.5X4 inch banner ads are available within the layout and design.

There is a Coffee News in my town/city. How will this affect me opening a Flying Cow to compete against them?

Because of our proprietary marketing system and the fact that the consumers in your marketplace are used to picking this type of publication up, it will be an easy to develop situation for you.

I've been looking at doing this myself. How much time is spent doing the gathering of information, searching for information, editing information, formatting the information, creating the ads, proofing the ads, building PDF's, creating templates and completing the layout and how much does this cost typically?

The cost can vary from $35- $400 per week depending upon who you have contracted to do each task. The real thing to remember when considering doing this opportunity on your own is what makes the best use of your time. You would spend up to 12 hours per week completing the tasks above. If you are not selling, you aren't making the maximum amount of money you could be.

How can the $2,950 deposit be used with Flying Cow?

Deposit to reserve a market area for Master and Local Distributors It is a one time fee of $2950 USD. For Master Distributors of countries other than Canada/USA this means they own the lifetime rights to their country. Local distributors enjoy lifetime rights to their own marketplace(which are usually large areas designated by county(ies) for this fee. This also gives both parties templates and all support materials required to the get their Flying Cow business up and running.

How much can I make with Flying Cow?

It depends upon a few critical factors. One of them is how large is your market? The more 'areas' the more ads spaces you have to sell. As an example in Ottawa Ontario Canada, there are approximately 10 zones. An operator could expect to generate approximately $400,000.00 in gross revenues; with costs of approximately $80,000. Net income of $320,000.00. This is based upon a $25/wk/zone average rate. The population is approximately 785,000. Part time you could make between $8 - $35K or full time well into the six figure range per year.

How many territories can someone reserve?

You can reserve as many as you'd like to. Each major market would simply be a $2,950 deposit and you would need to start printing within 90 days.

Does it matter if I live in Calais Maine (population 5,000) or Las Vegas Nevada (Population 1.6 Million) with respect to what my weekly content fee is?

NO. The content fee is simply $55/wk for ANY market area. Meaning you could open as many 'issues' as you can and still only pay the one time fee. If you compare this to Coffee News (source Entrepreneur.com franchise listing page), Coffee News charges an up front fee of $5,000 for the rights to the first issue of a population of 50,000 and then $3,000 for each additional 50,000 population. In the example of Las Vegas it would cost you $98,000 to reserve the entire market, compared to Flying Cow of only $2,950.00. Our thought on this is simple. We know that the 'brand' is really not crucial to your operation, but we believe that the system we provide you with will definitely excel your revenue in this type of publication. That's why we stand behind our system with a complete money back guarantee*.

What do I need in order to qualify to become a Flying Cow Publisher/Owner?

Is the content the same in the United States as it is in Canada?

NO. There is a custom template for the USA as there is for Canada. Please see the home page or the examples online for details.

If we use your Creative Services how quickly are the ads turned around?

Our Creative Director is the backbone of our business model. As quickly as 20 minutes and as long as 24hrs.

Can the content be changed if I don't want to run the horoscopes?

YES. There is filler content available to use. It includes US or Canadian Useful and Useless facts, stories, one liners, things to know, celebrity puzzles and more etc.

I heard that there was a lawsuit going on between Coffee News and Flying Cow. Is this true and what happened?

The verdict came out on January 9th, 2006. In the ruling, the Supreme court of Nova Scotia said that they did not want to limit competition and that Flying Cow was free to continue operations with a slight format change. On January 10th, 2006 Flying Cow was back to business as usual and on January 23rd, 2006 we debuted our new format to rave reviews.

Is this a franchise?

NO. This is a license opportunity. You operate your own Flying Cow and Flying Cow head office provides you with the content(if you want to use it or not), creative, layout, marketing and printing services, depending upon what your requirement is.

Does Flying Cow offer territory protection?

YES. Absolutely. Once you pay your deposit, we have an agreement put in place that guarantees exclusive representation per county. As long as you are printing and paying on time, the territory is yours forever.

What's the difference between Coffee News and Flying Cow?

There are many subtle differences which include different color inks, different color paper, different content, different masthead, different name, different ad sizes, different paper grade, customized content, flexible content AND Flying Cow is NOT a franchise. The main difference though is simply this. We are NOT ad takers. We are marketing consultants with a proprietary Flying Cow marketing system. We teach each operator how to separate themselves from their competition and show business' how to innovate and become the best in their field of expertise. This is why we are able to offer a money back guarantee*.

How do I make money is this business?

You sell advertising spaces in 52, 26 or 13 week blocks.

Do you compete with Coffee News?

NO. We do not have any competition because of our proprietary marketing system. As an example, we never have to discuss price. We offer superior Intellectual marketing consulting knowledge that no one else has.

How do I get started to see if this is right for me?

Take a look at the four pieces of homework found on the Business in a Box tab on the homepage.

Will you teach me what to say and how to say it when it comes to setting up distribution and selling advertisements?

YES. Once you are into our program you will receive all of the templates required to get your business off the ground. You will be profitable in your first week of publication if you follow the homework steps on the Business in a Box tab on the Homepage.

If I've completed my homework, what is my next step?

You need to call 1-902-869-2000 to set up an interview and to pay your deposit. We will then put you in touch with our Creative Director and Layout artist so you can discuss what you will need computer wise to operate your business.
